Climber

Natalie has been one of the UK’s best female climbers for the last decade. Softly spoken and unassuming, she’s quietly racked up what amounts to one of the strongest climbing CVs around, including being crowned British lead climbing champion on numerous occasions (8 British titles in all!), sport climbing to 7c+ onsight and 8b redpoint (one of few British women to climb this grade), and leading E7. She featured in the 2015 film Transition, detailing her move into trad and winter climbing from a background of predominantly competition climbing.

Natalie discovered climbing at the age of nine and she was hooked immediately. Having joined the Glasgow Climbing Centre kid’s club she soon progressed into competition climbing where, following numerous comp wins, she was asked to join the GB Youth Climbing Team aged just 11. International competitions followed, culminating in a win at the European Youth Series in Slovenia in 2007. Having achieved so much as part of the GB Junior Team Natalie became increasingly drawn outdoors and she started sport climbing intensively at age 18.

In 2016 Natalie won the Scottish Youth Ambassador for Mountain Culture award for her climbing, her work as a coach and mentor, and an ambassador for two charities - Urban Uprising and Climbers Against Cancer. She works full-time for UKClimbing.com as Editor and is lucky enough to be based in Chamonix, France.
