ABOUT KENDAL MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

Each November thousands of outdoor enthusiasts, athletes, artists, photographers, adventurers, explorers and inspirational speakers gather in Kendal to share adventures and celebrate the very best in outdoor and adventure sports culture.

This year Mountain Equipment will be returning to Kendal Mountain Festival and we’re excited to share the experience with you and some of the top athletes we support. Visit us in the Basecamp Village, where you’ll have the chance to meet some of our Pro-Team members, including Tom Livingstone, Uisdean HawthornNick Bullock, Chantel Astorga. There’s also the opportunity to meet members of our Design & Development team, they’ll be on hand to answer any questions you may have about our industry leading Down Codex® programme, our new sustainability project Down Cycle™, or how we create custom kit for cutting edge expeditions to some of the most extreme places on the planet.

Our Charity Partner, John Muir Trust, will be sharing our Basecamp Village stand where you can meet Pete Barron the land manager for Helvellyn Common and enter a competition to win an Earthrise Jacket.

The Kendal Mountain Festival will also host a session featuring Dave MacLeod talking about his long held personal challenge 24/8; climbing a Font 8A+ boulder, an E8 trad route, an 8a sport route, a VIII,8 winter route and 8 Munros within 24 hours. Nick Bullock will also be hosting a special session about his much-anticipated and critically acclaimed follow-up book, Tides.

We’re also pleased to announce the Mountain Equipment High Mountain Session; offering a rare insight into the current state of alpine-style climbing on the world’s highest mountains. Hosted by Stephen Venables, alpinist and co-author of the acclaimed book ‘Himalaya – Alpine Style’ and featuring Nick Bullock, Chantel Astorga, Rick Allen and Tom Livingstone; the High Mountain Session will bring together stories and insights from a year of alpine-style climbing in the Greater Ranges.

This year’s Kendal Mountain Festival features a whole range of opportunities to meet some of Mountain Equipment’s Pro-Team athletes and Partners. From Tom Livingstone and Chantelle Astorga at the Mountain Equipment High Mountain Session, to special events with Nick Bullock talking about his latest book Tides, and Dave MacLeod discussing his incredible 24/8 project.

TOM LIVINGSTONE

Tom is a 27-year-old British climber and writer who has a penchant for trad, winter and alpine climbing – the bigger and harder, the better.

NICK BULLOCK

Nick is one of Britain’s finest alpinists and rock climbers.

CHANTEL ASTORGA

One of the best female alpinists in the world, Chantel has a list of ascents from Alaska to the Himalaya and Yosemite.

DAVE MACLEOD

Based in the highlands of Scotland, Dave is arguably the UK’s best all-round climber.

UISDEAN HAWTHORN

Uisdean is a Scottish climber and alpinist best known for his winter climbing and Alpine exploits.

ANDY PARKIN

From alpine-style climbs on 8000m peaks, to some of the most difficult lines in Patagonia and the Alps, Andy has established hard, bold and visionary routes around the world.

STEPHEN VENABLES

The first Briton to summit Everest without supplementary oxygen and via a new route on the gigantic Kangshung Face; Stephen has made first ascents throughout the Himalaya.

RICK ALLEN

A veteran Himalayan climber, Rick is best known for his first ascent, alpine-style, of Nanga Parbat’s Mazeno ridge with Sandy Allan.
