Designed for the very fastest moving activities in the mountains and purpose built for covering ground quickly. Whether enchaining Alpine summits, linking easier rock routes, flying round a classic scramble or simply covering as much ground as you can on long summer evenings after work. Lighter, more breathable and smaller packing this is the kit you need when operating at your Threshold.
COVERING GROUND | THE CUILLIN RIDGE
At 18.5km, and with 3000m of ascent, the seemingly endless exposed and technical terrain of Skye’s Cuillin Ridge demands a considered, lightweight approach if it’s to be completed in a day. Experience, tactics, route finding, weather and kit choice all play a part for those who find themselves ready to set out on arguably the finest mountain day in the UK. Our Threshold collection is made up of clothing ideally suited to moving fast, every item doing its job with the minimum weight penalty.
IMPELLOR JACKET | UNNOTICED UNTIL YOU NEED IT
Our very lightest waterproof shell is an ultra-breathable fall back for the most exposed situations.
This minimalist shell balances a vanishingly small pack size against the reliable waterproof protection and exceptional breathability of the very lightest GORE-TEX® Active fabric. Unnoticed until you need it, the Impellor comes into its own flying over technical ridges or racing storms on remote towers.
EARLY HOURS | SNOWDON HORSESHOE
Location : North Wales Route : Snowdon Horseshoe
A LIGHTWEIGHT APPROACH
With the long daylight hours of summer and a lightweight approach those lucky enough to live near the mountains can often fit in what might ordinarily be a full day out in just a couple of hours before work. The classic Snowdon Horseshoe in North Wales can be a busy place in good weather but early in the morning the stunning, exposed ridges remain a place where you can fly across the ground in relative solitude. For Llanberis local Sarah Ridgeway it’s a regular training route. For more about Sarah go to www.runsnowdonia.co.uk
AN EVENING ‘LAP’ | TOWER RIDGE
Location : Scotland Route : Tower Ridge, Ben Nevis Total Time : 1 hour, 42 minutes
AN ULTRA-CLASSIC AFTER WORK
For many people Ben Nevis’ ultra-classic Tower Ridge would be a full day out, but for Finlay Wild it’s reduced to a 1 hour 42 minute evening ‘lap’ after work. High on Britain’s highest mountain, it’s one of the few routes in the UK that is truly ‘alpine’ in scale. With sustained scrambling and easy rock climbing in an ever more exposed position.
Finlay is one of the UK’s best mountain runners. He’s won the annual Ben Nevis race 8 times alone, as well as being British Fell Running Champion. He combines that fitness with mountaineering and skiing skills that allow him to cover vast amounts of ground at incredible speed.
