Our highest quality down is sourced from the Sumy region in eastern Ukraine. The farms were last visited in the Autumn of 2011.
Our Audit shows that the down is collected from Geese that are raised by small farmers and smallholders who typically have a flock of 20 or so geese that they raise for food. The geese live a truly free-range life with plentiful access to fresh food, water and shelter. They roam the countryside during the day, but return to the small farmyards each evening. At the start of each winter, the down is collected from these small farms by local dealers and batched together for cleaning and processing, initially in the Ukraine. It is then sold on to a down wholesaler in Taiwan who complete the final processing and sorting of the down to select the best quality down we use.
